kate makes lots of things (ceramic things, musical things, and so on), and documentary-ish films are among those. her films have screened at the black maria film + video festival, athens film + video festival, videoex experimental film & video festival, rooftop films, the palm springs international shortfest, and the davis feminist film festival.
kate's current areas of interest include exploring intersections of science and art, feminine and masculine, human and nature, stillness and motion, and so on. also occupying her thoughts right now are bird study skins, corn geneticist barbara mcclintock, and what the hell this thing is that we call “nature”.
she has an mfa in science & natural history filmmaking from montana state university in bozeman. by day, she works as the new media developer at the huntington library, art collections, and botanical gardens. her pet project there is the videre series, which you should totally check out. in her spare time, she helms marvelous movie mondays on the echo park film center facebook page.
